What you get
The app is the same engine that runs the free calculator on this site, with a memory. Every round you add is turned into a Score Differential with the formula (113 ÷ Slope) × (Adjusted Gross Score − Course Rating), and your Handicap Index is recomputed from the best 8 of your latest 20 differentials — including the Rule 5.2a adjustments when you have fewer than 20 scores and the 54.0 ceiling of Rule 5.3. A small chart shows how the index has moved over your last rounds.
How to install
- Buy once. You get a personal install link on the confirmation page and by email.
- Open the link on your phone (online, the first time only).
- iPhone: Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. Android: Chrome → menu → Add to Home screen.
- Open it from the home screen. From now on it works without a connection.
The link is your license: it opens the app on any of your devices. Keep the email. Lost it? Reply to your receipt and we send it again.
What it deliberately does not do
It does not issue an official Handicap Index — only an authorized club or association can. It cannot apply the daily Playing Conditions Calculation or the exceptional-score and soft/hard-cap safeguards, because those need the posting system's data. It does not sync between devices or to a cloud; export/import is the way to move your history. No accounts, no tracking, no ads.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official Handicap Index?
No. The app does the arithmetic of the World Handicap System exactly as published (Score Differential, best 8 of 20 with the fewer-than-20 table, the 54.0 cap and the Course Handicap conversion), but an official Handicap Index is only issued by an authorized golf club or association. Use the app to track your own numbers between postings.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Open your install link once while online, add the app to your home screen, and it runs without a connection from then on. Your scores are stored on the device.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. One payment, one install link, no account, no subscription, no ads. The link is your license - keep the email.
Can I move my scores to a new phone?
Yes. Export your rounds as a small JSON file from the app, then import it on the new device after opening your install link there.
Which phones are supported?
Any phone or tablet with a current Safari (iOS 16+) or Chrome/Edge (Android). It also runs in a desktop browser. Very old browsers without service-worker support cannot install it.
